Chelsea is a comedian, writer, and director. She is currently writing on Bless this Mess, a new show from Liz Meriwether and Lake Bell on ABC. She is also a writer for Abby’s, a show from Josh Malmuth and Mike Schur, airing on NBC. Previously she was a writer for Jon Stewart’s HBO Project, The Opposition with Jordan Klepper on Comedy Central, and for Mike Meyers’ Gong Show revival.

She co-hosts a podcast from TimesUp and Spotify with Ashley Nicole Black, about workplace discrimination and how to fight it, called Noisemakers. It features stories from a ton of incredible people from all over the country, and interviews with celebrities like Padma Lakshmi, Jessica Chastain, and Janet Mock.

She came up in comedy at The Second City, Chicago, where she wrote and performed three revues on the Mainstage. While on The Mainstage the press called her:

“The Michael Jordan of the cast”

“An even more fearless version of Tina Fey who could totally out drink you and kick your ass”

“Part Amy Schumer, Part Gilda Radner”

While in Chicago, she created and wrote the hit web series, Modern Women, on the Second City Network, and the pilot version was featured at The New York Television Festival. She is also a member of the sketch group It’s Megan! and their pilot was also featured at The New York Television Festival.

While at The Second City she was also an original member of The Second City’s Improv Allstars, and altogether spent 7 years performing at The Second City in Chicago where she toured with The Second City’s RedCo, and spent 4 months performing on a Second City cruise-ship .

Before all that she dropped out of high school after Sophomore year. Then 8 months later got a scholarship to attend a high school at The United World College where she received an International Baccalaureate. Twist! After that she enrolled in dramatic acting at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and took out a bajillion dollars in loans (big shout out to her mom’s friend who made the terrible decision to be her co-signer.) She then studied comedy at The Upright Citizens Brigade in New York, and at The Second City, i.O., The Annoyance, and The Comedy Studies Program through Columbia College in Chicago.

She performed as a Drag Queen in Chicago (Yes, cisgender ladies can be drag queens, gender is a construct and drag is an art form, ya’ll) and won Berlin Nightclub’s Drag Queen Competition: Crash Landing. She grew up all over the Southwest with her incredible mom, her mom’s friends, and some horrible dads. She currently lives in Los Angeles, but home will always be New Mexico.
